We like to stay ahead of the curve at Arranmore Ferry, so to keep up with new regulations, we're releasing a new type of payment process for online tickets.

We're not making change for changes sake, as of September 14th you'll notice more companies start changing their online payment processes (if you haven't already), It's called the Strong Customer Authentication and is designed to keep you safer when spending online.

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), a new rule coming into effect on September 14, 2019, as part of PSD2 regulation in Europe, will require changes to how European customers authenticate online payments. Card payments will require a different user experience, namely 3D Secure, in order to meet SCA requirements. Transactions that don’t follow the new authentication guidelines may be declined by banks.

Here's how it works:

Step 1: Select your ticket as normal

This part hasn't changed, we just wanted to show off how good it looks :)

We've got extra ferries running this week, check out the fancy green buttons.

Step 2: Pay using Stripe's Secure Portal

Stripe are our online partner for all our tickets and manage the payment and your card details securely only sharing with us details of the Ferry trip.

We've customised our store to still feel like our website.

Step 3: Come back to Arranmore Ferry

Stripe will process the payment and send you back to our website where you'll see details of your ticket AND at the same time you'll receive an email confirming your booking.

Bonus Step: We get notified

Using our dashboard, we're able to see who's arriving at which time. Rachael, our award winning manager, and team will know exactly when to expect you.
